On July 12, 2017 a motion for class certification was granted in the case of Ray Mohamed v. Off Lease Only, Inc. The ruling granted class certification for all individuals who were texted from the automated dialing platform, Twilio, from numbers that were obtained (scraped) from Craigslist (from people posting their car for sale) and texted at the direction of Off Lease Only, Inc. This is an important ruling in this spam text message lawsuit as it paves the way for legal recourse against companies that continue to obtain numbers to send unsolicited text messages (for telemarketing purposes).
