April 13, 2026
Shamis & Gentile, P.A. is investigating potential derivative action claims on behalf of shareholders of MediaAlpha, Inc. ("MediaAlpha, Inc." or the "Company") (MAX) against certain of its directors and officers for alleged breaches of fiduciary duties and other violations of law. Concerned shareholders are advised to contact the firm now.
The investigation concerns whether MediaAlpha, Inc.'s board of directors and executive officers allegedly breached their fiduciary duties to the Company and its shareholders by failing to maintain adequate internal controls and oversight systems.
On Aug. 6, 2025, MediaAlpha, Inc. announced it had agreed to settle claims with the Federal Trade Commission for $45 million. According to the FTC’s complaint, the Company, sometimes doing business as QuoteLab, LLC, allegedly used advertisements and websites claiming to provide health insurance quotes to collect information from consumers seeking insurance. The FTC alleged that, in reality, MediaAlpha, Inc. did not sell insurance products to consumers but instead sold the collected consumer information to telemarketers. The FTC further alleged that the Company sold approximately 119 million consumer leads in 2024 alone.
A shareholder derivative action seeks to recover damages on behalf of the Company and may result in corporate governance reforms designed to prevent similar misconduct in the future, as well as improve the Company's long term value.
