Suboxone Lawsuit

Did you develop dental issues from your Suboxone use, and are you considering a Suboxone lawsuit to seek compensation for the damage caused by this medication?

Suboxone Mass Tort Lawsuit

Suboxone Mass Tort Lawsuit filings greatly increased nationwide following the filing of a class-action case involving the popular opioid substitution drug Suboxone. While Suboxone has proven extremely helpful for individuals who are addicted to opioids and trying to overcome their addiction, recent lawsuits have challenged the safety profile of the medication.

What is Suboxone?

Suboxone is the brand name for a combination medication containing buprenorphine and naloxone. Suboxone is FDA-approved to help individuals struggling with opioid addiction maintain abstinence and reduce withdrawal symptoms. The medication works by binding to the same receptors in the brain to which opioids bind, but does so more weakly than opioids, thereby preventing cravings and withdrawal symptoms while the person works on their recovery.

The Suboxone Sublingual Tablets Dental Problems

While Suboxone was generally considered safe when taken under the tongue as a sublingual tablet, a significant number of users reported severe dental deterioration, gum disease, and tooth decay. The tablet dissolves slowly under the tongue, and the medication appears to cause serious damage to tooth enamel and gum tissue. Many users reported multiple tooth extractions and the need for expensive dental work.

Did Manufacturer Indivior Fail to Warn?

The lawsuit filed against Indivior (the manufacturer of Suboxone brand tablets) alleges that the company knew or should have known that the sublingual tablet form of the medication could cause serious dental damage, but failed to warn prescribing physicians and consumers about the danger. Some complaints also allege that the company deliberately concealed the risk to maintain Suboxone's market dominance.

Suboxone Dental Class Action Settlement

A class action settlement was announced in 2024 in which Indivior agreed to pay $650 million to settle claims that Suboxone sublingual tablets caused dental injuries. The settlement covers individuals who took Suboxone sublingual tablets between 2008 and 2021 and suffered dental injuries.
